Fire eater .: Karisini :.

Karisini has been dancing since the age of 3, with a few year break in high-school to pursue acting to the fullest extent. She had formal training in ballet from ages 3-13, with a few years of jazz and tap mixed in there. She has always had an unbridled passion for the performing arts. She majored in Drama and has her B.A. from University of Washington. She studied modern dance one semester at Cornish College. After high-school she was on the board of directors for a youth theater in Seattle called Anything For a Biscuit for a couple of years, during which time she found her passion for freestyle dance which was a true expression of her soul. She studied Kung-Fu for a couple of years which artistically influenced her dance style. Acting in traditional theater wasn't quite fulfilling enough and now she feels she has found a way to express herself creatively and spiritually through the means of fire. Taking dance to the next level as a theatrical performance seemed a natural step. She was inspired by a belly dancing troupe who had a fire dancer, went on to learn belly dancing, contact improv and ballroom dancing with an emphasis on salsa. She taught herself how to fire eat, make fire fingers and choreographed a dance piece which she first performed at The Folk Life Festival in 1999 where she met Tabasco. She became part of Pyrosutra by regularly performing with Tabasco at Habana's and enticing new members there. A yoga practitioner for many years, she is a certified teacher of Bikram Method Hatha Yoga. She loves to travel and loves healing arts, she is a Reiki master.

"I am inspired by movement and dance - expression in its most raw form" - Karisini
